Behind the Scenes: AHU Filter Cleaning in Action
Regular air handling unit (AHU) maintenance is one of those tasks that rarely gets noticed — until it isn't done. Our team recently carried out a full filter cleaning service, and these photos capture exactly what that work looks like on the ground.
It starts with access: reaching into tight, overhead spaces within the AHU housing to carefully unlatch and pull out the pleated filter panels. Months of continuous airflow leave these filters caked in dust and grime, visibly clogging the pleats and restricting airflow — a clear sign that a system has been overdue for service.
Once removed, each filter is inspected before being brought to our dedicated pressure-washing station. Using a high-pressure water jet, our technician works methodically through every pleat, breaking down built-up dirt layer by layer until the filter is fully rinsed clean. This step is essential — a properly cleaned filter restores airflow efficiency, reduces strain on the system, and helps maintain better indoor air quality.
It's hands-on, unglamorous work, but it's a critical part of keeping HVAC systems running efficiently and extending the lifespan of the equipment they protect.
